Another day, another dose of drama from the Royal Family! The continuing saga between Meghan and Harry and the rest of the royals continues, and Meghan has finally come out on Oprah about how she believes they’re “perpetuating falsehoods.”
In a nutshell, the Duchess of Sussex said she can’t “just be silent if the Royal Family continues to play an “active role” in perpetuating those “falsehoods.”
Meghan Breaks Silence About How the Royal Family Treated Her
In a heavily anticipated TV interview between Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey, a teaser clip revealed a few choice remarks from the Duchess. The clip was released following the news that Buckingham Palace will be investigating “very concerning” allegations of bullying from when the Duchess spent time working as a royal.
Some of those accusations included the idea that Meghan bullied former royal staff and how Meghan reportedly “destroyed” one staff member and left another one in tears.
When the interview airs next week on Oprah, it is expected that Harry and Meghan will open up about their experience during the short time they fulfilled royal duties together, before they stepped back from their roles to move to America last year.
Meghan said she’s not afraid of speaking out, nor of facing the consequences of doing so. She said that “a lot… has been lost already.”
Oprah Asks Meghan How She Feels About Royal Family Hearing Her Truth
Oprah pressed Meghan to speak out during the interview, asking, “How do you feel about the Palace hearing you speak your truth today?”
Meghan replied, “I don’t know how they could expect that, after all of this time, we would still just be silent if there is an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us.
“And, if that comes with risk of losing things, I mean, I …there is a lot that has been lost already.”
Prince Harry Also Speaks Out About the Royal Family
Prince Harry also made comments during the teaser, such as how he’s afraid of history repeating itself. That’s another reason he decided to step back from his royal duties.
He said, “I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process by herself all those years ago, because it’s been unbelievably tough for the two of us.”
“But at least we have each other,” Harry said.
Another clip shows him saying, “My biggest concern was history repeating itself.”
The rest of the preview clipped showed Oprah commenting on the revealing statements from the couple such as, “You said some pretty shocking things here,” and “almost survivable – sounds like there was a breaking point.”
